What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link connects a publisher’s recommendation with a commercial arrangement. A business may reward the publisher when a reader takes a qualifying action, such as making a purchase. The arrangement and payment conditions can vary.

Look for the disclosure before engaging

Readers should be able to recognise advertising before interacting with it. A prominent Ad label is clearer than a vague abbreviation. A notice buried in a footer is easy to miss.

A commercial relationship is useful context

Ask who wrote the recommendation, whether anyone benefits financially, and whether the article describes first-hand experience or simply lists product information. Do not assume a product has been tested just because it appears in a polished article.

Price, availability, returns and subscription terms can change. Check the seller’s current details before deciding to buy. A product mention is not a guarantee that it will suit your needs.
